2016, the end of Obama; a black man having ran the country for 8 years, and, WELL. I might add. He stepped a way, the way he came in, with grace, after having received a media bashing the likes of which no person, no human being, should have to endure. Starting from when it seemed he might run: he was good, all could tell, Republican operative, no "s" because it was more function than any one person, took aim. "He sat with this person", "went to this church", they went on and on about. Who gives a fuck?! You mean to tell me the first Black Man running for President, who undoubtedly received the vetting of the century for that fact alone, was with a few people and such and such and who's on first and whatever the fuck? That’s all you got? Wow. Cold dude, Obama. Played the game of cards and/or thrones, which ever you prefer, and won; resoundingly, convincingly. Sidebar: Kevin Spacey was an AMAZING actor, damn shame he's also a sicko. Ned Stark was an honorable man, damn shame it got him beheaded. The point, above all, is he won, well worth repeating. He's John Stark in this tale. If this is unfamiliar to you, this reference I mean, check on it. The writing, superb. We should salute Obama's ability to course a path that's true in the face of historic opposition. Maybe that's his appeal to you, he stood in the lion's den and walked out scathed, but undeterred and better because of it. It's a tried and true story, we all need a little adversity, a loss here and there. It test our character, our medal, and exposes who we are when it matters most. Obama, the very picture of cool, calm, collected. Or maybe it's as simple as he looks like you, which, if nothing else, inspires. Can’t measure that, but you can see it in you kids eyes, their moves. Me, personally, I salute that twice.
I digress, though, because this isn’t a thought piece on the HNIC and/or his influence on broader and grander life, but rather an observation on the notion that Donald J. Trump could again be President. Obama's role here is merely that of agitator, antecedent, muse even, for Trump, as I muse...
A traverse: gave Trump a verbsl lashing at the President’s dinner, prompting him to run for president, by all accounts. What he do then, you ask, literally run for President ON racism. Anyone denying that is simply choosing to. Birthirism IS racism, that’s what he ran on, period, all the way to the first debate against Hillary where he quietly admitted Obama was born here. Coward for real, detailed files, but too much to even consider without my head exploding.
Let's tally: he rode racism, ran against a woman, Hillary Clinton, who, let’s face it, the Republicans have been shitting on for literally 30 years, so much it’s likely engrained in culture, especially on that side, and he still lost the popular vote by almost 4 million votes. The electoral college swung in his favor because racism, though engrained systematically, is not the social issue it once was, which for some reason kind of has a cognitive dissonance feel, but in places where technology and modern advancement have yet to touch, so too does cultural advancement miss these folks Since jis electoral win in 2016 , literally, every election he’s been a part of he’s lost. Republicans have taken loss after loss with Trump at the helm. His own election: coming off of Covid management that was in the toilet, two impeachments, countless disgraces on the national stage, just an all round horrible person with absolutely no redeeming values. In fact, his very disposition, his me first ideal is totally opposite of what's expected and required of a president who, in effect, is responsible for all Americans; subservient to the idea of safety of the country as a whole. This is foreign to Trump. So many jokes, so little time.
This was on display for all to see, leading into his bid for re-election, but still he had the strength of the incumbency on his side. Surely this would rescue him. "Somehow you love set me free" (Maxwell knocking in the back as I write this) Nope, loses by almost 8 million votes. This time enough to overwhelm the electoral college, where he was also smoked, but the point here is public acceptance.
Trump is widely disliked and doesn't even do anything to improve his low standing. In fact, I could argue, easily, that his actions suggest he wants to narrow his tent. He's offensive, out loud, and it’s just not welcoming. It’s mean for mean's sake and it actually projects a seething hate for what America is, and, again, Trump doesn’t hide it. To that, I actually give him credit, all should. He does indeed do and say what he wants, I’m actually starting to think he may be getting some sick reward out of it all, if nothing else than look at what I can do, all this absolute ridiculousness, and still remain, stay relevant, be the conversation, which he has managed to do despite all the egregious activity, all the criminality, all the absolute disdain for anything, really, that's not pure to him and him alone.
Crazy really when you think about it. But take all this, add on all the ill repute that he is subject too since his leaving office, he is now somehow suppose to get more votes?? Come on, that's just not possible. I would reason, trump's ONLY path to the presidency is to cheat. The numbers and losses don’t lie. His only path, objectively, is through manipulation or subversion, because broad support simply isn’t there. His heyday saw him losing by 3.5 million votes, so, realistically, how could that improve? It can't, really, impossible to, but the reason for keeping it, him, or the idea of him being the President again, alive can best be summed up by the great orator Rakim Allah, the God MC: "...still don't nothing move but the money". No true words, Ra. Thank you for your expression. Trump himself has said "they all make money off of me". Maybe there are truer words, and spoken by Trump no less. Wow. Broke clock right twice a day or some shit.
Legacy media still insists on giving him the spotlight, feeding us the Trump Show on a loop. Ratings, it seems, trump integrity. Ain't that a bitch. Locker room talk, please excuse. For all the lip service about "fairness," the legacy press has kept Trump in headlines, knowing full well the disgrace he embodies: a man openly infatuated with authoritarianism, wielding hate, with "Project 2025" as the dystopian blueprint should he get another shot. Even as the empirical evidence against him stacks higher and higher, they sell his brand of absurdity as if it’s a sideshow rather than the main event — a looming danger that threatens American democracy itself, at least that's the story right?
Every headline amplifies him, from his every utterance to each scandal. The spectacle isn't new, but it exposes a hard truth about the nature of media today. Despite his failures, his legal battles, his blatant disinterest in serving anyone but himself, Trump is still “relevant.” Why? Not because people overwhelmingly want him back — quite the opposite. His numbers say it all: as stated, he lost by millions in 2020. The public has consistently rejected him, even when he’s held the advantages of incumbency and media obsession. But Trump remains because the system is ripe for manipulation.
And here lies the bitter irony. While Trump’s repeated losses reflect a resounding public “no,” the system isn’t built to honor that. The electoral college remains vulnerable to partisan bending, the courts are filled with his allies, and much of Congress is indifferent to the Constitution if it means holding power. It’s a rigged game in the open, Trump tells us every day and has for the past 10 years. Dude really been running for President for the past 10 years, and still he has yet to stand before a camera and explain a policy. Meanwhile, Kamala been running for a little over 3 months and she's expected to be the exalted and walk on water. Lucky for her, and us, she stands on many, many shoulders, so the depth and unchartered terrain of the sea is coursed by the elders. You smell them greens? Aint no recipe, just tried and true stewardship. Even now, when Big Mama blessing you with the telling of the recipe ain't no writing that down, you better remember it. What's wrong wit you, girl? The truth is, Trump’s hovering presence highlights just how fragile the mechanisms of democracy truly are.
So, what has Trump’s lingering presence really shown us? Not that he’s some unbeatable force — he’s lost repeatedly, in every conceivable way. No, it shows us how easily the system can be exploited, especially when media stokes fear and fascination for profit. His existence in politics forces us to confront the failings of the political and media structures around him. The real story isn’t that Trump might win again, but that he’s even been allowed to stay relevant, even as his actions push further and further from democracy. In the end, Trump himself knows his odds are slim without bending the rules. Like Adrian tells Rocky, “You can’t win.” He’s lost the popular vote again and again, and his only real play now is to distort the game. We’re left asking the essential question: how long will the country let itself be held hostage to one man’s ego, while the system he manipulates stands defenseless?
For us, the absurdity isn’t just Trump’s ongoing presence — it’s how clearly he’s exposed the naked emperor, the system's flaws, and how willingly we’ve let it slide. He’s not winning, he’s just showing us how broken the game truly is. And if I'm wrong, and by some glitch in the matrix, he manages to do the impossible, the absolute unthinkable, alas he is still standing in spite of being an obvious and weighted burden on society, and that must be acknowledged, I'll simply smirk at America, the democracy part, and understand fully that her slip is showing and it's dirty and it has holes in it. What else can I do? What else can any of us do? America operates corruptly out in the open, for all to see and it's nothing we can do. If he wins, he likely cheated though. He cheats at golf, he won't steal an election, after having tried before? Please. All we have is the fact that dude has been the President before, life went on, though Covid was brutal. He didn't cause it, but his handling, or lack thereof , caused lives, period. Full stop. I vote local, so should you. We need speed bumps in my neighborhood. Who we recalling? Shang Tao? Ok, bet, let's rock.
Listen, if Trump can be a convicted felon, decided rapist, who leans into fascism, and still become President, all while that homeless encampment has added another TV or some shit, he deserves to fondle Lady Liberty and she, having turned away from all her productive rights, or not, deserves to be fondled by he of small hands. Shit, how can I care if she doesn't? I/we voted against Trump consistent and I/we will again. I did so along with my kids, who voted for the first time, but he keeps around because Lady Liberty is ok with, downright resolved in, leaving the backdoor open. Like flies to shit, Trump is standing there, ripe with the hands for grabbing America by the...
